District 1g: Lone Mountain

Lone Mountain is an upper-middle class neighborhood settled on one of San Francisco’s 44 hilltops. Originally the site of cemeteries, it now is home to immaculate Edwardians, and the many apartment buildings that house the students of the University of San Francisco; which is also located within its borders. Residents of the Lone Mountain neighborhood can enjoy a myriad of activities provided by the Angelo J. Rossi Playground and Pool. Professors and professionals alike inhabit this neighborhood and can enjoy the view from El Divisadero, Lone Mountain’s original name meaning, “a point from which one can look far.”Close to the University of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Park, this handsome and neat neighborhood offers older and newer homes, with well maintained gardens and surrounded by greenery. There is also the newer USF sports center.
