4C: Forest Hill

Some extravagantly landscaped curving lanes.  A well maintained area, and the property owners make sure of it by paying for and owning the streets through the residents association.  When the list of San Francisco’s well to-do neighborhoods comes up, Forest Hill is irrefutably at the top of that list. A community that has an active Homeowner’s Association, and many clubs and clubhouses for its residents, the elite area was built upon land purchased from the Adolph Sutro estate in the early 1900’s. With its wide, curving and lush streets, Forest Hill residents are proud to say that they live in one of the least densely populated areas in San Francisco. Homes have been built throughout this proud area’s history, which has a varied array of architecture, most notably homes by Henry Hill and Frank Lloyd Wright plus a sprinkling of Bernard Maybeck architecture.
