Westwood Park was one of the first neighborhoods in San Francisco to be designed with middle class families in mind. The bungalow style home is prevalent in this area, developed by the Baldwin and Howell company following the completion of the Twin Peaks Tunnel. Westwood Park’s commercial stretch offers a fair spread of small shops and eateries. The area was developed around an oval street layout, much like Ingleside Terrace. The neighborhood has the distinction of being an officially legislated “Residential Character District” due to its distinct and charming architecture. The area is serviced by BART and several light rail stations making transit easy and affordable with or without a car.
